Best of luck to all three Cork clubs taking part in the All Ireland Club semi-finals next Sunday, the 10th of November. Hopefully just like 2017 we can get a Cork club through to All Ireland finals in each grade.
Two of the matches take place in Cork so please get out and support these clubs on Sunday.
Current All Ireland club champions Mourneabbey put their title on the line when they face five time winners Donaghmoyne from Monaghan at Mourneabbey @1.00pm on Sunday. This is sure to be a cracker as Mourneabbey seek to avenge defeats in their two previous meetings, the 2015 final and the 2016 semi final. Mourneabbey had their toughest match of the season in the Munster Final versus Ballymacarbry and even though they fell behind late in the day they still managed to pull through. This game will surely have brought Mourneabbey forward and given manager Shane Ronayne areas to focus on as they had learned little in previous matches as they had steamrolled through the Cork County Championship.
Inch Rovers make the trip to play Naomh Ciaran in Ferbane Co. Offaly on Sunday at 2.00pm. Naomh Ciaran overcame Tinahely from Wicklow in the Leinster final in terrible conditions on a score line of 3-10 to 0-07. Inch Rovers, as usual, will be well prepared by coach Noel O’Connor and have a good mix of young talent and experienced players.
Donoughmore host Navan O’Mahonys from Meath at 2pm on Sunday at the Donoughmore Community Pitch in Stauke. It is great to see a resurgence in Ladies football in Donoughmore after a period in the doldrums. Their appearance in the Munster Final this year was their first since 2011 and underlines the work that is being carried out by the club. While the return of Rena Buckley to their ranks has been a massive boost, this team has talent throughout and will not be overly reliant on Rena.
On occasions like these, local rivalries should be set aside and support given to our Cork clubs.
