Cork 5-12 Waterford 2-7
Cork U 14 girls put in a good solid performance in overcoming a very determined and well drilled Waterford side at sun drenched CIT on Tuesday evening. Playing with the aid of a stiff breeze Cork was slow to start and it was the visitors who had the bulk of the play in the opening ten minutes. They challenged Cork in every area but failed to put the scores on the board and slowly let Cork into the game. The rebelettes got two fortunate goals mid way through the half which gave them confidence to go on and score some great points before they ended the half leading on a score line 3-9 to Waterford 1-3.
The strength of Cork’s bench was plain to be seen as a number of players were introduced just after half time and all of these girls fitted right in to team. Waterford to their credit never gave up and took the game to Cork for most of the second half getting some fine scores. Both management teams took the opportunity to empty their respective benches and look at what talent is available to them in the “A” and “B” Munster Finals which are to be played early in May.
