Cork U16s through to Munster Final
Cork 7-24 Tipperary 3-0
Cork qualified for the Munster Final with a comprehensive victory over Tipperary in Round 2 of the Championship played in Mallow on Wednesday 27th March.
This game was over as a contest after 15 minutes as the Cork girls began to reflect their domination on the scoreboard.
The Tipperary girls struggled gamefully to stay in contention but the tactic of withdrawing one of their forwards to bolster their defence left the Tipp attack under pressure as the Cork backs with numerical advantage were able to launch a continuous supply of ball into their forwards which ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking over as the half time whistle approached.
Trailing 4-14 to 0-0 at half time with the game well beyond their reach the Tipperary girls showed great spirit and were rewarded in the second half with three goals.
Cork added 3-10 to their score in the second half period but were never seriously tested. A Munster Final date on April 20th now awaits against the winners of the Kerry v Tipperary Round 3 Clash.
The formbooks indicate that Kerry should have too much for a game Tipperay outfit in Round 3 and a Munster Final showdown on April 20th between the Rebels and the Kingdom lies ahead.
Well done Cork but back to the training paddock for now as they prepare for what will surely be a much stiffer test in the Munster Final.
