Valley Rovers 6-8 Gabriel Rangers 2-7 Valley Rovers claime the Tesco Homegrown U21B County Title in impressive fashion in Clonakilty on Sat 10th Nov. Gabriels opened brightly scoring two early goals from the boot of Amy Dineen who was a threat to the Valleys defence throughout. Slowly Valley Rovers found their scoring range having missed some early opportunities to get on the mark and by the midway point in the half the deficit had been redued to a single point. With Eimear O' Regan and Eimear Cummins beginning to dominate around the middle sector and the Valley Rovers forward division receiving a better supply of ball Valleys made the decisive move on the scoreboard notching up 3-4 without reply to take control of the contest. By half time Valley Rovers had turned a six point defecit into a seven point lead with the scores at 3-6 to 2-2 The second half started as the first had ended with Valley Rovers in control. With the inside line of Michelle O' Regan, Katie Richardson and Lisa Lynch combining very well Valleys scored three well worked goals to put the contest beyond doubt. Gabriel Rangers to their credit never gave up the chase and in the closing stages added five points to cut the defecit but they could not get the goals they needed as they were denied on a cople of occasions by fine saves Valley Rovers keeper Jessie Hawkes. In the end the gap was too much to bridge for the Gabriel girls as Valley Rovers went on to secure a well deserved Tesco Homegown U21B title with the final score at 6-8 to 2-7 Well done to both teams on a fine game of football and thanks to Clonakilty GAA who once again provided an excellent venue for the final.
